Monaco, a city-state of 2.5 km², operating within a limited territory, daily knows migrations, tourism and freight transport.

To ensure sustainability of quality of life, the Principality of Monaco is committed to soft mobility, a concept based on different strategies which aim to limit and fluidize the transport routes.
The urban transport plan allows the Principality of Monaco to improve transport flows, to reduce the use of private vehicles, and to encourage the use of public transport.
Much work has been performed, always in a logic of flows fluidization.

In terms of ecological vehicles...

The Principality of Monaco has acquired five additional trains to serve the railway station, itself certified ISO 14001 in 2010.
Buses run on diester or hybrid. The ship bus transported over 128,000 passengers in 2009. An experiment of electric bikes stations is currently underway, with fifty residents testing the solution. Finally, the Principality of Monaco proposes financial incentives to residents or businesses wishing to acquire a green vehicle.

In terms of renewable energies...

The Principality of Monaco has a possibility of access to renewable energies provided by the SMEG (Monegasque Company For Electricity and Gas), through the offer Edenenergy.
Many establishments of the Principality are equipped with heat pump.
Solar panels are also installed on several roofs of the Principality.
The incineration factory of the Principality, la Société Monégasque d'Assainissement, values some part of the waste to energy thanks to the process of incineration, and provides hot water in several neighborhoods.
To map the energy losses, the Principality of Monaco has commissioned a review, to identify priority areas on which to work.
